2013 Social Cinema Series

Social Cinema is presented in collaboration with the Wisconsin Union Directorate Film Committee. The series is free and open to all.

  • At the end of a corridor lined with wooden, pew-like benches, a person with short, curly dark hair, wearing a bright orange jumpsuit and white t-shirt, is surrounded by three men in suits. The person in the jumpsuit appears to have his hands crossed, as he follows a bald man in a gray suit and tie. Two men in dark blue suits follow behind, the last appearing to have just rounded a corner. The floor of the hallway is shiny gray linoleum, which generates a reflection of the people at the end of the hall. The walls of the hallway are also covered with a reflective material, so that images of the four people are mirrored on either side.

    The House I Live In

  • A close-image of a honeycomb upon which two bees sit with their heads directed toward the top of the image.

    More Than Honey

  • An image of an urban landscape. Buses line the side of a city square. Trucks appear to be parked in the square's center, while other cars and trucks drive along the opposite side of the road. Multistory buildings line the left and right side of the image. A large white billboard with red lettering can be seen on the left-hand side of the square. On the right-hand side, many people walk along the street. Some carry umbrellas. Transmission antenna of some kind top one of the buildings on the right side of the image. The sky appears nearly white, and very few trees can be seen.

    The Human Scale

  • A graphic rendering of the Statue of Liberty surrounded by a number flag poles flying the US flag. The graphic image is red, with the silhouettes of the Statute of Liberty and US flags in black. The white text that runs across the image reads: "Shadows of Liberty", but the "i" in "Liberty" is held by the black silhouette of the Statue. Beneath the title on black further text reads: "A documentary feature by Docfactory & Jean-Philippe Tremblay

    Shadows of Liberty

  • A graphic featuring the phrase "Terms and Conditions May Apply" on a gray and white checked background. Each word of the phrase individually mimics the font, color, and design of major tech companies (Google, YouTube, Facebook, and Amazon). For example, the word "Apply" uses the font associated with the Amazon logo; underneath the black letters, the orange "smile" of the Amazon brand is also included.

    Terms and Conditions May Apply

  • A man stands with his mouth agape staring at large, bright orange & yellow flames in the foreground. He appears to have short dark hair and visible stubble. He wears black acetate glasses with squared lenses, a faded blue New York Yankees baseball cap, a dark t-shirt, and dark zip-up hoodie. Behind him, greenery can be seen.
