John E. Roemer is the Elizabeth S. and A. Varick Professor of Political Science and Economics at Yale University. His research concerns political economy and distributive justice. Active current research topics are inter-generational and inter-regional equity in the presence of climate change, and the micro-foundations of cooperation. He is the author of several books, including Sustainability for a Warmer Planet; Democracy, Education, and Equality;Political Competition: Theory and Applications; Equality of Opportunity; and most recently, How We Cooperate: A Theory of Kantian Optimization. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a Corresponding Member of the British Academy.
