Afraid of the Dark

Thursday, May 21, 7pm

Marquee Theater, Union South, 1308 W. Dayton St.

Afraid of the Dark takes us to the places few of us want to go and raises questions most of us would rather not ponder about anthropogenic climate disruption. Not just what it is and what it will do to the planet, but why humans are seemingly incapable of doing anything to reverse the train-wreck that’s well on its way with few signs of turning back. Filmed on Location in Italy, Germany, Norway, Canada, France, Scotland, England and the US.

Following the film, join a discussion with John Stauber (author of Toxic Sludge is Good for You), Steve Horn (DeSmog Blog), and Maria Drews (Madison 350).

SOCIAL CINEMA: STORIES OF STRUGGLE & CHANGE explores important contemporary social topics from critical perspectives. Each screening is followed by a discussion of the issues explored in the film.

Social Cinema 2015 is made possible in part by support from the Morgridge Center and Edgewood College’s COR Program. The series is organized by the Havens Center in collaboration with the Wisconsin Union Directorate Film Committee and is free and open to all.
